Ubico is seeking a strategic, results-driven Head of Operations to lead the delivery and continuous improvement of waste collections, recycling, street cleaning, and grounds maintenance services. You will be at the forefront of enhancing the local environment—ensuring clean, safe, and welcoming streets, neighbourhoods, parks, and open spaces—while supporting our partners in achieving their climate and sustainability goals. This role requires a leader who can balance operational excellence with innovation, driving efficiencies and embedding positive change across the organisation.
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will provide strong leadership to a team of operations and transport managers, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective services that meet statutory requirements and deliver value to the communities we serve. You will oversee multi-site services, manage budgets, and develop service improvement plans that focus on efficiency, customer satisfaction, and long-term sustainability. Collaboration will be key, working with partners, commissioners, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth and operational enhancement across Ubico.
We are looking for a senior leader with demonstrable experience managing large operational teams, a strong understanding of environmental legislation and health and safety regulations, and the ability to inspire and develop talent. You will be comfortable operating at a strategic level, capable of driving performance improvement, and committed to embedding a culture of continuous improvement and high standards. This is a highly visible role, requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to influence at all levels.
You will need
- Certificate of Professional Competence in Transport Management (Road Haulage).
- Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) Level 4 - Managing Transfer Operations.
- IOSH Managing Safely certificate or recognised equivalent or prepared to work towards.
- Experience of having operated as a member of a senior management team.
- Lead by example and be a positive role model for Ubico values to ensure these are understood and embedded within teams, working practices and behaviours.

- Full UK driving licence. This role will require travel across Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire
